transmission is completely blocking the user from doing a manual reannounce. So for some reason this is not being honored for the 404 errors.

Jordan, yes i did know you have a default miminum interval of two minutes. IIRC, our default for this value is two minutes. Here is the debug info from the mac client (version 2.13+ (11622)). I have to manually pause and resume the torrent for it download. Please let me know how I can assist in debugging this issue.I have seen this happen many times on different trackers: the tracker website will list a torrent that hasn't yet registered with the tracker backend and transmission gets an initial 404 and the torrent never starts downloading even after the torrent no longer 404s. Also, the disk is constantly thrashed during this process. Something is wrong with that as the CPU should be capable of hashing much more data per unit time with SHA1. Regardless, watching the web interface number of GB verified creep upwards during "Verifying local data," it may take 1-2 minutes to verify 0.01GB of data. I upgraded from an old version of Transmission + Clutch which had the "Have" vs "Verified" issue, with having downloaded a lot of data and not verified very much. I have an approximately 21GB torrent which I've been working on for a while due to crashes in 1.41b4, and every time I restart it the 'verifying local data' stage takes a very long time while using nearly 100% CPU. I am running transmission-daemon and the web interface only, no GUI as the machine is headless. The swarm is all PC’s related to a certain torrent.

In Transmission, If I download 1 torrent at a time, the speed is pretty good. benchmarking a 90MHz Pentium as being capable of hashing 2.1MB/sec (megabytes, not megabits) with SHA1: Their torrent client will connect to a tracker (discussed later) and the tracker will send them a list of IP addresses of other seeds and peers in the swarm. When I download multiple torrents in Vuze, I get pretty good download speed: 200k to 500k and I can get at least 300k averagely. This is a fairly slow processor, but there is a credible post from a member of RSA, Inc. I'm running transmission 1.42 built from source on Debian etch on a 600MHz VIA C3 box (low power x86 CPU).
